Comfort Hotel Bergen
Architects: Nordic - Office of Architecture
Year: 2017
Area: 15 500m2
Location: Strandgaten 190, 5004 Bergen, Norge
Nordic, in collaboration with Haptic Architects, designed and completed the new Comfort Hotel Bergen Airport in spring of 2017, in good time before the completion of the new terminal building at Bergen Airport, also designed by Nordic.

With a 304 room capacity distributed over three floors above ground level, and with all the usual amenities, the hotel is within a short walking distance from the airport’s new terminal. Conference rooms, restaurant, lobby bar, and kitchen are all situated on the ground floor, whereas the parking, goods delivery, wellness center and storage can be
found in the basement along with all the technical rooms.

The design concept is based on a compact, yet free shape, where the hotel room wings mark the boundaries of the atrium, providing ample natural light throughout the building. The shape of the building is further enhanced by external, vertical and threedimensional timber panels, which vary in width and create an interesting dynamic,
strengthened by the organic form of the building.

In addition to creating a comfortable and functional place to spend the night, the goal was to create a unique and attractive building of high architectonic value, which sets a standard for future development of both the business park and airport expansions.
