The brief for the new church and culture centre in Nittedal was to design a place for worship and reflection that would strengthen the identity of the town centre. The core concepts for Nordic's submission were a reinterpretation of the local traditions of building with timber, creating an inviting atmosphere for the community.
The building was designed as a positive addition to the surrounding landscape, using mainly timber and concrete to create warmth and tactility. The wooden beams in the ceiling design and the use of natural light create an impressive yet solemn atmosphere inside the church.
