Nordic won the project for masterplanning a new terminal in an architectural competition in 2009. We were responsible for planning and designing all phases, right through to completion.

The new terminal building more than doubles the airport’s capacity without compromising on esthetics. Taking the form of a pair of wings spread wide, the overall design brings to mind the valleys and fjords of the region.

The new Terminal 3 houses many different areas including waiting lounges, commercial areas, check-in, baggage and goods handling, and office facilities. The overall design concept is influenced by the surrounding scenery of dramatic mountains and deep fjords, both in terms of structure and materials, and the modular design makes for easy expansion of various parts of the building.
