The Areca palm (Dypsis lutescens), native to Madagascar, thrives in both shaded and open areas of tropical and subtropical climates. Now a popular indoor plant worldwide, it adapts well to various conditions. This medium-sized palm grows up to 6m tall with multiple trunks, pinnate yellow-green leaves, and, when mature, bears small yellow flowers and decorative fruits that turn from red to black. It requires light to semi-shade, temperatures between 18-27°C, regular watering with good drainage to avoid root rot, high humidity, and prefers nutrient-rich soil.
